Online Workshop for Young Writers
Writing Memories: Online Workshop for Young Writers
Join us on Tuesday, 20th August, 3-5pm, for a special writing workshop led by Isabelle Baafi.
Our memories shape who we are—the places we've been, the experiences we've had. But what happens when those memories become fuzzy, altered, or even lost? How do we reconcile our own recollections with the conflicting accounts of others? In this workshop, we’ll dive into these questions by discussing poems by Rita Dove, Sharon Olds, Mary Oliver, Yusef Komunyakaa, Anthony Joseph, and Threa Almontaser. Participants will revisit their most formative memories and craft new ones, transforming them into poems that explore identity and challenge what we believe to be true.
About the Tutor: Isabelle Baafi is the Reviews Editor at Poetry London. Her pamphlet Ripe (ignition press, 2020) won a Somerset Maugham Award and was a Poetry Book Society Pamphlet Choice. Her writing has appeared in the TLS, The Poetry Review, The London Magazine, Oxford Poetry, and more.
