Writing Food Memories & Culture

Oxford Writers Wheel Workshop for young writers age 13 - 19

What’s your food story?

Join us for a special Writing Workshop for 13-19 year-olds, led by poet and writer Jenny Wong @jenniferwswong Through guided exercises, you’ll explore the powerful connection between food, memory, and identity—reflecting on the meals that shaped you and the stories they carry.

🗓️ Saturday, 16th Nov
🕚 11 AM - 1 PM
📍 Oxford Friends Meeting House, 43 St Giles’, Oxford

This workshop is the second in our Oxford Writers Wheel series, presented in partnership with the Oxford Chinese Community Advice Centre (OCCAC). Fusion Arts and OCCAC share a rich history, having worked together at the East Oxford Community Centre. We look forward to moving back in when the new building is complete next year!

For over 30 years, OCCAC has been a lifeline for Oxfordshire’s Chinese community, providing vital advice and services to promote equal access, enhance quality of life, and foster integration.

Jenny Wong will guide participants to reflect on personal food memories, using them as a lens to explore family, culture, and connection. From the people you shared meals with to the emotions tied to every taste, this session will unlock the rich tapestry of stories that food inspires.

Everyone is welcome, especially those from ESEA and minority backgrounds! Spaces are limited, so don’t miss out. Let’s turn your favorite meals into memorable stories
