Community Film Night & Fundraiser
Join Parents for Palestine Oxford and Oxford Palestinian Solidarity Campaign for the screening of “Where Olive Trees Weep". This powerful documentary offers an unflinching look at the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation, exploring themes of loss, trauma, and the quest for justice.
The film features:
- Palestinian journalist/therapist Ashira Darwish
- Grassroots activist Ahed Tamimi
- Israeli journalist Amira Hass
- Trauma-healing work by Dr. Gabor Maté with women who were tortured in Israeli prisons
Ancient landscapes bear deep scars from land confiscation, expulsions, imprisonment, home demolitions, water deprivation, and the denial of basic human rights. Yet, amidst the oppression, we witness the deep roots of resilience that have sustained the Palestinian people through decades of adversity. This emotional journey reveals the humanity of the oppressed while grappling with the question: What makes the oppressor so ruthlessly blind to its own cruelty?
Post-film reflections and discussion will follow the screening. Due to the heavy nature of the topic, we recommend this event for ages 16+ with parental attendance.
Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance. Parents for Palestine and Oxford PSC will be collecting donations for Medical Aid for Palestinians. Donations are optional but greatly appreciated.
