Story Makers exhibition at the Window Galleries

We are excited to present Story of Stars by Story Makers in the Window Galleries this summer.
This year, Story Makers participants from Wood Farm and Larkrise Primary Schools partnered with the History of Science Museum, Oxford to explore their collection of historic astronomical instruments. These instruments provided a framework for understanding the cosmos, life on Earth, and the feelings of hope that come from our place in the universe.
The Story Makers time in the museum collections was a transformative experience. Participants engaged with the objects through various methods, including object handling, imagination-based movement and sound, drawing, and modelling. This hands-on approach allowed them to connect with the historical and cultural significance of the instruments.
Through these activities, participants created beautiful new artworks in both 2D and 3D. They drew inspiration from the objects and images they imagined, resulting in detailed drawings and models. Some participants even created large-scale canvases that captured the essence of the celestial bodies and cosmic phenomena. Additionally, they wrote poetry to express their personal responses to the experience, adding a layer of emotional depth to their creations.
Story Makers is developed and run by Arts Psychotherapist Helen Edwards and Fusion Arts.
