C.M. Taylor’s Debut Exhibition Slow & Spurious Comes to Fusion Arts
Award-winning experimental filmmaker and novelist C.M. Taylor (Craig) brings his debut visual art and film exhibition, Slow & Spurious, to Fusion Arts, Oxford. Fatigued by our hyperactive visual culture, in 2024 C M Taylor grew moved to start making slow, laconic, zero-budget experimental short films, guided by the slogan ‘The slow and the spurious, not the fast and the furious'. Despite having no prior skills nor experience, and to his great surprise, these films have since won Best Experimental Film at fifteen international film festivals, on five
continents.
The line-up:
- Professor Paul Whitty, composer and sound researcher, will be live mixing some field recordings made in Oxfordshire.
- Music from multi-instrumentalist and contemporary folk singer/songwriter Sharron Kraus.
- ‘Nomadic-sporadic’ artist Sara Dudman RWA will speak about her ‘Ley of the Land’ project in the Cotswolds, accompanied by a short film by Hannah Earl.
- C.M. Taylor will screen an award-winning experimental short, filmed in Oxfordshire, and discuss guerrilla filmmaking in the shires.
- Editor of Northern Earth Andrew Chapman will talk about a psychogeographical quest for the heart of Albion.
The filmmaking process generates distinctive pieces of visual art, which will be exhibited alongside their corresponding films for the first time.
