A gathering that explored Thomas Sankara’s revolutionary, decolonial Pan-Africanism — and how his legacy continues to inspire liberatory futures beyond patriarchal models of change.
We began the session with the Tamarind Galaxy astronomy workshop led by Natty Mark Samuels, followed by a rich and engaging panel discussion with Amber Murrey, Patricia Daley, Brother Omonwale, Trivisha Jele; a shared community meal; a screening of Boza – L’Aventure by Femi Nylander, and uplifting cultural performances from Sta’Sax, Mapengo, and Shona. Meanwhile, the Kids Zone kept younger visitors busy.
Huge thanks to everyone who joined us — and to our incredible partners and supporters: Aro Cowley, Afrikan/Afrikan-Caribbean Kultural Heritage Initiative (ACKHI), African School, Oxford Community Action (OCA), Oxfordshire Community Education Group, Praler Fund Campaign, and Unlock the Chains Collective.
Together, we continue to honour Sankara’s spirit of courage, imagination, and community-building.
