Adinkra brings together two collections of work by artist Mimi Kassi exploring ancestry, identity, colonialism and reclamation. Drawing on her West African heritage, Kassi reinterprets African artefacts and symbols through contemporary materials and imagery. The second collection looks at resistance, unity and collective identity, taking inspiration from the Black Power movement and Pan-African imagery. Together, the two collections explore the relationship between the past and present, and ideas of cultural identity, loss, resistance and empowerment.
