2021 Parasol Project Workshops

As part of Fusion Arts' ongoing partnership with The Parasol Project, this year we have facilitated a number of creative workshops for the young people that The Parasol Project supports. These workshops have been run by local artists and have explored a variety of themes and mediums.

Easter holiday workshops lead by different artists:

• Phil Hanaway-Oakley's workshops - participants created tree and bird landscapes
• Tommy Watkins' workshops - participants worked on making graffiti-style fantasy animals
• John Blythe's workshops - participants developed cyanotypes
• Grace Exeley's workshops - participants were involved in a range of crafts, from making fireable rockets, to creating lanterns, to playing with printing and drawing techniques

Workshops over the summer:

Artists Mani Manson-Reeves and Grace Exley led eight sessions from July to the end of August at Fusion's courtyard, the Wolvercote Young People's Club and at Tower Playbase.

• With Mani the children worked on making a giant tiger that they then turned into a mosaic with tiles.
• With Grace they made a puppet theatre in preparation for a puppet show that The Parasol Project put on.
• Other sessions involved a number of different creative techniques and activities, including graffiti, tie dye and even paint bombs! The sessions culminated with a celebration at Tower Playbase with the artists.
