Word Up! was a creative music project devised by Fusion Arts and Steve Larkin from Hammer and Tongue that ran between 2010-2011. Together with Starlight Enterprise in Blackbird Leys the project gave young people aged 14-18 the chance to explore their lyrical talent alongside the guidance of acclaimed poet and international slam champion Steve Larkin, as well as being offered the opportunity to earn an Open College Network accreditation. During the programme, which consisted of four courses across Oxfordshire, young participants could develop their creative skills and fine tune their performances, for instance, by paying more attention to their set-ups.
