The Caribbean Living Room at 58 Between Towns Road, Cowley is a partnership with the Afrikan Caribbean Kultral Heritage Initiative (ACKHI), the BK.LUWO group and Museum of Oxford.
Originally created in 2018 by local groups ACKHI and BK.LUWO to mark the 70th anniversary of the docking of the SS Empire Windrush, this reconstruction of a typical 1960s West Indian front room has proved extremely popular and is now in its third year of running! Drop in to in to learn about the experiences of the Oxford Windrush Generation, listen to stories of local people, find out what people wore on their journey to England and explore a 1960s African Caribbean Living Room complete with a radiogram, crochet doilies and more.
The space is free to visit (donations are welcome) and open Tuesday - Thursday 10am - 4pm every week!
