Build Back Brighter: Online Lantern-Making Workshop

Join us for a free, live artist-led lantern making session and get your lantern ready for this year’s Oxford Light Festival!

Over the course of two hours our lantern artist will show you how to create your own lantern using items from around the house and recycled materials.

The workshop is suitable for all ages though small children will need the help of an adult. Why not bring the whole family and get creative together?

The interactive session will allow you to ask questions of the artist, inspiring you get inventive and make your lantern unique.

Materials and equipment? A list of items needed will be emailed in advance of the session. Most materials can be found around the house or purchased easily!

Join in the Oxford-wide celebration on your doorstep!

This year, Oxford's Light Festival is coming to you! Instead of a city centre lantern parade we want you to illuminate your streets and your communities with handmade lanterns. The weekend is a wonderful chance to come together as a community, and give thanks for the many acts of kindness shown over the last six months.

How to get involved?

Over the festival weekend simply display your creation on your doorstep or in your window and sign up to be added to a map of local light trails. Then hit the street (keeping to guidance on social distancing of course) and see what everyone else has made!
