Part of Oxfordshire’s Great Big Green Week, drop in and try your hand at making biodegradable papier-mâché art with artist Nor Greenhalgh. Visit Nor’s ‘Elder Vernacular’ exhibition of inks, paints and sculpture materials all sourced from the East Oxford landscape as part of her Elder Vernacular project with Fig. Find out how to contribute your own artwork to be displayed and then ritually composted at the end of the year.
Free, family-friendly, you can drop in any time between 2-5 pm.
About:
Elder Vernacular is a research project that is compiling a palette of art materials grounded in the East Oxford landscape. Nor & Fig are interested in the rediscovery of a visual 'vernacular' in the contemporary context of COVID and climate change, which have both encouraged city dwellers to embrace their immediate local surroundings for both their psychological and physical wellbeing.
This workshop is brought to you as part of Oxfordshire's Great Big Green Week.
You can come along and see this work be ritually composted on Sunday 7th November 3-4pm at NaturEscape, Florence Park (next to Tennis Courts), OX4 3LB as part of the Elder Vernacular publication launch.⠀
